This summer our friends at Carpigiani came all the way from Italy to visit Izzy’s Minneapolis as part of their Midwest roadtrip for the series “Some Like It Cold”. This episode does a wonderful job of giving you the behind the scenes look at Izzy’s Ice Cream, telling Jeff and Lara’s story, and of course showcasing our beautiful city.
“It was fun showing them around our Izzy’s neighboorhood. We showed them the Guthrie and our two favorite spots, the cantilever balcony overlooking St. Anthony Falls, and the window looking across Gold Medal Park, to Izzy’s red tower. After our first day of filming, we took them over to Spoon River where they had a very enjoyable meal. All in all, they were very impressed with our town and Minnesota,” says Lara Hammel, co-owner of Izzy’s Ice Cream.
Carpigiani is the global leader in the production of equipment for ice cream and all the flavors we make for the shops come right out of one of their machines!
Shannon Leach, vice president of operations, explains, “Izzy’s has proudly used Carpigiani ice cream machines all 19 years of business and we were delighted to be a part of Carpigiani’s ‘Some Like it Cold’ US tour. Hosting the team of filmmakers for two days, we got to share delicious bites of ice cream, talk about ‘gelato’ versus ‘ice cream’ and celebrate the joy of making delicious food. Enjoy!”
